People not in the world of water, boating and swimming are not really familiar with the kayak. A kayak is a
small human powered boat, only having one cockpit, where the person sits and rows with oars. A spray deck covers
the cockpit with a water proof material, thus keeping water out of the cockpit if it should roll over or get
sprayed with water. Some modern day kayaks are made without the cockpit, setting the paddler on top of the boat or
replaces the paddles with other propulsion methods. Actually the kayak was made by the Alaskan Eskimos as they
hunted mainly by water.
Then came along the Dagger kayaks; founded by three buddies of Joe Pullian. They wanted to pool together the
extensive experiences they each had into a growing paddle sport industry and to have their own boat company. The
first location for the Dagger kayaks was in Roane Country, Tennessee. Being it had cheap rent; the boys could start
up the paddle boat industry on just pennies. Then in nineteen eighty eight, the Dagger Canoe company was launched.
Eventually they moved their company to South Carolina and the rest as they say is history.
Whatever your skill level may be or you just do not have one, Dagger kayaks are easy to learn to paddle, no
matter where you want to go. If you really are in the know and have that high drive to try different types of
water, try the Dagger whitewater series. Records have been broken with this series, these are tops in the
freestyle, creeking, or river running on the market. The whitewater Dagger kayaks series Dagger Juice six point
nine is the one to own. It glides through the water like your sitting on top of glass. Some people call a river
runner it does provide ample play on any wave that is out in front of you. This kayak is small enough to do the
sliding and surfing. Expect to pay a thousand dollars and up for this line.
In November of two thousand and nine, the National Geographic Adventure told of their findings of the must have
gear and the new Dagger Axis twelve point zero came out on top. In the series of Dagger kayaks this new and
innovative kayak beats all the rest. It can almost transform itself for the lake rides to the ponds, even
whitewater. it is easy on the beginners and can be more than a handful for the paddlers with that insatiable taste
for adventure.
This series of Dagger kayaks also have fantastic maneuverability for edging, the straight tracking form a drop
down skeg (part of the keel) and an optional thigh braces, that offer more versatility. It also has a roomier
cockpit for the larger paddler and a larger room to hold a few items.
So if you are lucky enough to see a good kayak race and they win, it is probably Daggers kayaks winning the
race. Oh and by the way Dagger kayaks are made for kids too.
